L & G
Engineering is pleased to announce further success by one of our bright, young
apprentices in the Skillweld National Welding Competition.
Reece
Laurie took part in the East Anglian semi-finals at Great Yarmouth College with
fellow students Dean Chesters and Raymond Legg, exercising great skill to win
the heat. Reece hopes to be amongst the top 10 highest scorers to make it
through to the grand final, following in the footsteps of L & G apprentice
Josh Peek, who participated last year, winning the bronze medal in this prestigious
competition.
Entrants to
the Skillweld competition have to complete a number of timed tests, with their
work being carefully scrutinised by a panel of judges, meaning that they need
to demonstrate both speed and accuracy in their work.
Following
the heat, Reece declared that he was “very happy to have won” and had “really
enjoyed taking part”. We’d like to congratulate him on his successful
performance and wish him good luck in his quest for the finals.
