Off To Abu Dhabi!

If you’ve been following the success of our brilliant apprentice welder, Josh Peek, then you’ll know that he’s off to World Skills Abu Dhabi that runs from 14th to 19th October.

Josh has been working hard to prepare for the competition, practicing his test piece to the highest of standards. It will be a variation of this piece that contestants have to produce in the competition, but the design can be modified by up to 30% by the examiners, creating a bit more of a challenge.

All of us at L and G Engineering like to wish Josh all the best in the competition - we'll be supporting him all the way!

Cool Unit For Aeropak

The L and G Engineering team is currently working on a new Multiple Vessel Heating and Cooling Skid Unit for one of our customers, Aeropak of Great Yarmouth.

Situated on the Gapton Hall Industrial Estate, Aeropak is part of the Diomed group that supplies topical preparations (creams, ointments, gels etc), over the counter medicines and herbal diet and stress relief preparations. The Great Yarmouth plant is equipped to manufacture pharmaceutical products to high standards and fill large and small volume product packs.

This latest cooling and heating unit presently under manufacture is a prime example of the skilled engineering work carried out by the L and G team to meet specific customer requirements. We will shortly start installing and connecting the unit at the Aeropak premises to give improved temperature control over the manufacturing process.

We fabricate and install a variety of finely engineered equipment tailored to individual requirements across many industry sectors. To read more about what we do, please visit http://www.landgengineering.co.uk

Bespoke Batch Fryers At Their Best

We supply our bespoke, commercial batch fryers, manufactured to the highest standards and specifications, to the national and international markets, where they are very well received.

Working from our Norfolk premises, our highly skilled engineers take care to consider precision temperature control, oil flow, ease of use, clean operation and reliability when designing the fryers, using their extensive expertise and experience to the full. In addition to designing and fabricating the fryers, we offer a full installation, refurbishment and maintenance service, ensuring clients get the best from their chosen machine.

In fact, thanks to the finely engineered PLC control system, our bespoke fryers can be fully accessed and monitored on site from a remote location, with the ability to download data to the hard drive, ensuring smooth running and convenient use for the client. Offering large capacity in relation to the area of footprint, the fryers are available in four different sizes, offering a range from 100-300kg per hour of finished product. The machines are designed with the ability to handle eight batches per hour – they have the capability to produce large quantities per every hour!

And, of course,  our batch fryers are just one example of the finely engineered, thermally efficient equipment that we supply to the food industry, with industrial ovens, conveyor systems, bespoke food manufacturing equipment and industrial dryers being other popular fabrications

Our great workforce at L and G Engineering, together with ‘hands-on’ founders/directors Adrian and David, are passionate about engineering and work towards very exacting standards. We're proud to say, “Our batch fryers are currently the best on the market!”

Josh’s Gothenburg Gold

Team UK had a great time at the Euroskills competition in Gothenburg by all accounts, with our talented, young apprentice, Josh Peek, winning a gold medal for welding!

Josh is a hard worker, now a champion welder to boot, claiming his title as best in Europe despite a somewhat painful setback. During the competition Josh explained, “I set my gloves alight – that hurt but I just got on with the job.” That’s our Josh!

We’re extremely proud of Josh and all of Team UK who brought home two golds, one silver, two bronzes and eight medallions of excellence, making this their most successful Euroskills competition. Well done to everyone involved.

It’s onwards and upwards for Josh now, as he continues to work as a valued apprentice at L and G Engineering, whilst looking to represent the UK at the Worldskills finals in Abu Dhabi next October.

Upgrade For Aspall

We’re always pleased to work with prestigious local companies, one of the latest being Aspall of Suffolk, a renowned cyder producer.

Aspall’s first apple orchards were established in 1728 and today the traditional, family firm grows 46 different varieties of apple from which they produce their delicious cyder, pressing, fermenting, blending and bottling the drink on site. Visit www.aspall.co.uk for more information.

The L and G engineers have been working on extensions to the company’s steam main and installation of pipework at their busy premises. Our engineering skills and industrial gas registration ensure we have the right credentials for specialist work of this type.

Fryers By The Batch

At L and G Engineering we’re already known for our fabrication of commercial batch fryers and are pleased to be currently working on three new units for the overseas market.

One of our former European clients was so impressed by the first fryer that we supplied to them that they’ve ordered another that we plan to deliver in early autumn. We’re also working hard to fulfill a batch fryer order to a company based in the Middle East – we’re certainly getting a name internationally!

In addition to batch fryers, we produce, install and maintain a wide range of food processing equipment, including a variety of conveyor systems, industrial ovens and dryers and specialised food manufacturing equipment.

Leading The Field

We recently came to the rescue of a local poultry supplier that had been searching (unsuccessfully) for an efficient poultry sanitiser to combat bacteria, especially Campylobacter, on their freshly processed poultry.

Campylobacter is the most common cause of food poisoning in the UK and it’s therefore of the utmost importance to deal with its presence in the food chain.

We’re always keen to rise to a challenge here at L and G and this was no exception. We got to work on the design and fabrication of a sanitising system that was capable of maintaining the constant, high temperature required to combat the bacteria, as selected by the client. The process involves hot water to sanitize the bird that is kept at a very high, consistent temperature (within 0.5º of selection) that the bacteria are unable to withstand.

There is a call by the food industry and supermarkets for this practice to become industry standard, so at L and G Engineering we’re extremely proud to be at the forefront of developing this finely tuned process.

Drying With Gas

L and G Engineering are pleased to have recently installed new gas burners for the herb dryers at a popular East Anglian company.

The flat bed dryer operates using direct-fired gas burners and a powerful fan, to ensure that the herbs are subjected to the correct, constant temperature for optimum drying. Take a look at our movie showing the herb drying process in action with the newly installed gas burners running.

At L and G we’re highly experienced in gas installation and maintenance with industrial registration within the Gas Safe scheme, making us an ideal choice when updating your gas installations. Visit www.landgengineering.co.uk/gas_fitting.html

Circular Spray Booth For Permastore

At L and G Engineering we don’t do things by half, as you can see by one of our latest projects, the design, manufacture, testing and installation of a large, circular spray booth for Permastore.

Permastore is the leading manufacturer of Glass-Fused-to-Steel tanks and silos, supplying clients across the world. Its busy facility in Eye, Suffolk provides structures to municipal, industrial and agricultural markets, which are used in water processing, sewage treatment, bulk storage etc.

The large circular spray booth created by L and G in conjunction with Electromech control gear technology, will enable Permastore to effectively spray enamel on large, curved metal sections for use in their tank production.

We always enjoy new design and manufacturing challenges, so if your company is looking for a new innovation, give us a call!
